The San Francisco Giants fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-7 on Tuesday night despite a spirited comeback late in the game.

Randal Grichuk hit a two-run homer in the first and a solo drive in the fifth to move within one of 300 for his career, and the Arizona Diamondbacks held off the San Francisco Giants 8-7 on Tuesday night for their seventh straight road win. “He's hot, and when he's hot he can carry a ballclub,” manager Torey Lovullo said. Grichuk's big bat helped Ryne Nelson (10-6) reach double-digit victories for the first time in his career in just the second win in six games overall for Arizona, which holds the second NL wild card spot.

September for the Giants is going to be about experience and opportunities, and they checked off both boxes Tuesday night. It has been a challenging season for the San Francisco Giants, as they are a couple of games under .500 with the playoffs looking highly unlikely at this point. While the Giants are by no means a bad team, they play in arguably the best division in baseball, which is the National League West. On Monday, it was reported that the San Francisco Giants decided to promote their top prospect, Bryce Eldridge to Double-A Richmond. Eldridge was the Giants first round pick in 2023 and at just 19-years-old, he is yet another step closer to the Major Leagues. The move was reported by Roger Munter of ThereRGiants.com. Eldridge was moved to the top prospect in San Francisco's system after Marco Luciano and Kyle Harrison graduated, but given that he was drafted out of high school just last year, he seemed to be far away still.
