‘It’s on my bucket list’: Dusty Baker meets fans at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain
Jose Garcia admitted that he was quite nervous as he stood in line to meet Dusty Baker during the Dusty Baker meet-and-greet event at Wheatland’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain. Jose and his partner, Darlene Garcia, traveled in from Stockton to shake hands with their first-ever baseball celebrity. It was quite the spectacle, as Jose Garcia noted, and he was anxious to get ...
Giants host Padres, look to impact wild-card race
Staring at elimination in the National League wild-card race, the San Francisco Giants get a chance to impede the postseason push of a fellow NL West club when they open a three-game home series against the San Diego Padres on Friday night. The Giants (72-75) fell 8 1/2 games out of the final NL wild-card spot following a 3-0 home loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday night. San Francisco has just 15 games remaining. Six of those games — including three in the final week of the regular season at Arizona — will be against NL West rivals currently in wild-card position. The Diamondbacks (82-64) have the best record among the wild-card hopefuls, with the Padres (82-65) just a half-game behind.
San Francisco Giants Fan Favorite Willing To Re-Sign on Cheap Two-Year Deal
Mike Yastrzemski is the longest-tenured player on the current San Francisco Giants roster, but at 34 years old, his time with the team could be coming to an end. Yastrzemski will hit arbitration for the final time of his career this offseason, but with the Giants potentially going with more of a youth movement, it remains to be seen if he's in their plans. Viewed as a fan favorite because of how he conducts himself on and off the field, there's value in keeping someone like the left-handed hitting outfielder on the roster. Losing someone who loves the organization doesn't help San Francisco reach their goals, but business is business, and Yastrzemski shows up to work every day with a smile on his face.
SF Giants' Farhan Zaidi explains how past offseasons will inform their actions this winter
Unlike recent winters, the Giants don't plan to sit around and wait this offseason. “One of our goals is going to be to be very aggressive timing wise and try to get things done early,” team president Farhan Zaidi said Thursday in his latest appearance on the club's flagship radio network, KNBR. With 15 games to go and the Giants three games under .500 entering Friday's series opener against the Padres, Zaidi confirmed the team has shifted its focus to 2025 and is already putting plans in place for how to augment a roster that didn't perform up to expectations in the first season under manager Bob Melvin. One box on their offseason to-do list was checked off last week, when they agreed to terms on a six-year, $151 million extension with third baseman Matt Chapman.

San Francisco Giants Third Baseman Ranked Among Best Hitters in 2024
The San Francisco Giants are trying to finish out their season strong and play spoiler in the National League. It hasn't been the year that the Giants were hoping for, as the NL West proved to be to much this season like expected, but one of the major reasons why San Francisco has struggled has been because of their offense. Recently, the Giants made the decision to lock up third baseman Matt Chapman to a six-year deal. Chapman's first season with San Francisco has been a very good one, and the franchise clearly wants him to be a part of the future.
