Giants place 3 key players on waivers amid 2024 struggles
The 2024 campaign has once again not gone the San Francisco Giants way. While they have a 67-67 record, and are still technically in the running for a National League wild card spot, as they are 6.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves for the third and final spot, it doesn't seem like they are interested in making one final playoff push given their most recent roster moves. An interesting tactic non-contending teams began partaking in last season involved waiving some of their major league players in an effort to shed salary.

Los Angeles Dodgers Among Top Landing Spots for San Francisco Giants Ace
When the San Francisco Giants signed Blake Snell to a contract with an opt-out after the first year, the expectation was for him to potentially leave in free agency. Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported over the weekend that Snell will "exercise his opt-out clause," meaning the Giants will have some work to do in terms of replacing or re-signing him.
San Francisco Giants Place Three Players on Waivers in Surprise Move
This has been a frustrating and disappointing season for the San Francisco Giants. Sitting 5.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot in the National League, it looks like this campaign is going to be a colossal failure that could have long-term ramifications regarding who is calling the shots for this franchise going forward. This all stems back to what the Giants decided to do at the trade deadline. Viewed as a head-scratching move at the time, they have now made another eye-opening decision by placing three players on waivers.
Jung Hoo Lee joins SF Giants on the road as shoulder rehab ramps up
Almost three months since undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery, Jung Hoo Lee's rehab is beginning to ramp up, and the Giants decided to mark the occasion by inviting the 25-year-old outfielder to join them on their remaining road trips. “Everybody's all for having him on the road with us right now,” manager Bob Melvin said. In the past week or two, Lee has been cleared to start running and lifting weights, an indication that his left shoulder is fully healed from the June 4 procedure to repair the labrum he tore crashing into Oracle Park's center field wall in their May 12 game against the Reds. The operation performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache came with a rehab timeline of approximately six months, and Giants trainer Dave Groeschner said Lee was right on schedule.

What is the Greatest Strength of the San Francisco Giants This Season
As the San Francisco Giants fight for a Wild Card spot heading into the final month of the season, there are some things to be encouraged about in the future. The Giants will be one of many teams in the National League heading into the final month of the season with a chance of making the playoffs. As San Francisco tries to move up in the standings, they have a strong offseason to thank for some of their success this season. In the offseason, the Giants were able to sign both Matt Chapman and Blake Snell to some very team-friendly deals.

Ray had started the Giants' 4-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, but left before the fourth inning due to hamstring tightness.
San Francisco Giants Dealt Another Injury Blow to Already Reduced Pitching Staff
The San Francisco Giants placed lefty Robbie Ray on the IL on Tuesday after he left a start early with hamstring tightness. Hicks was placed on the 15-day IL with shoulder tightness, and the Giants recalled reliever Austin Warren to replace him. San Francisco signed the 27-year-old to a four year, $44 million deal in a busy offseason. After passing his career high in innings, the Giants transitioned him back to the bullpen to save some mileage on his arm.
San Francisco Giants Ace Predicted to Wear Different Jersey Next Season
As more and more reports come out, it seems likely that Blake Snell will opt out of his player option in the offseason. The San Francisco Giants signed him in the 2023-24 offseason to a one-year, $32 million deal with a player option. The Giants could re-sign him to a long-term deal, which might make sense given what he's shown. Snell, 31, is only getting older.
