San Francisco Giants Rookie One of Pitchers 'Best Set Up for Success'
The San Francisco Giants young pitcher has had an up-and-down start to his MLB career but has already shown enough to majorly impress some. Eno Sarris of The Athletic looked around at pitchers around the league that have recently debuted to find the guys 'set up for success' by something they've shown early on. Giants rookie Hayden Birdsong was one of the pitchers highlighted. "[Birdsong] has two really good breaking balls, a feel for spin and sits 96 on the fastball.
Giants' rotation in precarious situation as Ray awaits MRI
The Giants' playoff hopes are like a sunset slowly fading over the horizon, just not as picturesque or pleasing. San Francisco's painful push for the postseason absorbed another gut punch when starting pitcher Robbie Ray was forced out of Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners with a strained left hamstring in the fourth inning. Ray is scheduled to have an MRI on Monday to reveal the extent of the hamstring injury. “I just felt it one one pitch, felt it kind of tighten up on me,” Ray told reporters in Seattle.
Mariners score twice in sixth and beat the Giants 4-3
Bryan Woo pitched seven strong innings and the Seattle Mariners capitalized on two hit batters in the sixth to score twice and beat the San Francisco Giants 4-3 on Sunday. The game was tied at 2-2 when Randy Arozarena was hit by a pitch leading off the sixth. Justin Turner singled and Jorge Polanco was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Potential San Francisco Giants Trade Target Could Be Moved This Offseason
Right now, all the focus is on the San Francisco Giants getting into the playoffs. What that could mean for the roster is unclear, but there is a chance Farhan Zaidi won't be leading the charge this winter if the Giants aren't able to earn a Wild Card spot. In a perfect world, their top prospect Marco Luciano would become their full-time shortstop, allowing Tyler Fitzgerald to be used as a superutilityman.
San Francisco Giants Seek Critical Series Victory Over Seattle Mariners
Time is running out for the San Francisco Giants when it comes to make the playoffs, as they wrap up a series with the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park on Sunday. The Giants (66-65) are a game over .500 after Saturday's victory over the Mariners, but in truth that's nothing more than cosmetic. San Francisco is five games out of the final wild card berth in the National League, which is held by Atlanta. In order for the Giants to have any hope of catching the Braves, they not only need to go on a hot streak but they need the Braves to falter.
San Francisco Giants All-Star Believes 'It Was Good That I Was Sent Down'
The San Francisco Giants season has been interesting on multiple fronts. Perhaps the most surprising, however, has been the struggles from right-handed All-Star closer Camilo Doval. Doval, once viewed as one of the best closers in baseball, hasn't pitched how he did in the first three campaigns of his career this year. The Giants optioning Doval, despite the struggles, came as a surprise.
Giants' Bonds admits his Baseball Hall of Fame hopes are gone
Barry Bonds is at peace with his MLB legacy. The longtime Giants slugger and the league's all-time home run leader no longer is eligible to be voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame after falling short of the required vote threshold for 10 consecutive years from 2013-2022. In speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Bonds admitted he finally is at peace with his Baseball Hall of Fame fate after his latest honor.
Red Hot San Francisco Giants Slugger Named to Best Young Prospects List
The San Francisco Giants have at least one prospect that is shaping up to be a future star. Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report put together a list of the 25 best prospects that are 20 years or younger and one member of the Giants farm system made the cut, first baseman Bryce Eldridge.
Giants aim to ride strong bullpen performance in rematch vs. M's
Camilo Doval returned to the San Francisco Giants on Saturday after a two-week stint in the minor leagues. The time away seems to have benefited the Giants' reliever. Doval pitched 1 1/3 hitless innings in a set-up role Saturday as the Giants posted a 4-3 win over the host Seattle Mariners. The rubber match of the three-game interleague series is scheduled for Sunday afternoon in Seattle.

Mariners fail to capitalize on scoring chances in 4-3 loss to Giants
Really, the Mariners needed just one hit on most occasions to change their fortunes. Instead, Dan Wilson watched his team fail to take more advantage of nine walks, generate only four hits — none with runners in scoring position — and strand 10 base runners in a 4-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Saturday at T-Mobile Park. It was a loss like so many this season — enough pitching to have a chance to win but not enough offense to do so.
San Francisco Giants Have One of the Hottest Pitchers in Baseball
The San Francisco Giants are heading into the stretch run of the baseball season hoping to find a way to make the playoffs. Unfortunately for San Francisco this season, they are playing in arguably the best division in baseball, which is the National League West. The Los Angeles Dodgers might very well be the best team in baseball, and the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks are looking to grab two of the Wild Card sports. Despite the Giants being right around the .500 mark, they are currently on the outside looking in for the playoff hunt.
Mike Yastrzemski homers as Giants survive Blake Snell's wildness, beat Mariners 4-3
Mike Yastrzemski homered among his three hits, and the San Francisco Giants survived a wild outing by starter Blake Snell to beat the Seattle Mariners 4-3 on Saturday. Snell, who grew up near Seattle, walked five batters in the second inning, two with the bases loaded, and issued a season-worst six walks overall. Snell gave up two runs on no hits and threw 74 pitches, 42 for strikes.
Snell can't find the strike zone, but Giants hold on to beat Mariners
The Giants did a lot of things that normally spell defeat, but won anyway Saturday in Seattle. Blake Snell couldn't find home plate in his hometown. The Giants were 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left 11 runners on base. Spencer Bivens (3-1) got the win with three innings of scoreless relief (and no walks) behind Snell, and recalled closer Camilo Doval set up the ninth for Ryan Walker with 1 1/3 shutout innings with a walk and two strikeouts.
