The 23-year-old right hander has interviewed with at least seven teams since being posted by his Nippon Professional Baseball team, the Chiba Lotte Marines last month. The San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets and Yankees, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and San Francisco Giants have all been confirmed to have had an in-person meeting with Sasaki.

San Francisco Giants Predicted To Sign World Series Champion Reliever
Pitching has been a focus for the San Francisco Giants, and the front office has dealt with that. Having as much pitching as possible is never a bad plan, and for a Giants team that could be better in the rotation and bullpen, expect another move or two this offseason. San Francisco, looking to compete for a playoff spot in 2025, could benefit from adding a veteran reliever. Instead, the Giants should look for a mid-tier, buy-low reliever.
San Francisco Giants Boast Intriguing Potential Breakthrough Prospects
When it comes to the San Francisco Giants' farm system, much of the discussion is around first baseman Bryce Eldridge. The 2023 first-round pick cruised through the entire Giants' farm system in 2024 and is now considered to be one of the top prospects in all of baseball. If he progresses in 2025 the way he did last season, he could be the Giants' first baseman sometime this year. Eldridge's growing reputation overshadows the rest of the farm system, which is not ranked among the best in baseball.
San Francisco Giants Deal Star Reliever, Acquire Slugger In Wild Trade Proposal
The San Francisco Giants have made some nice moves this offseason, but it feels like there's still some work to do. Depending on how aggressive Buster Posey wants to get, he could hit the trade market to fill some holes as most of the top free agents have gone dry. In order to upgrade the lineup via trade however, San Francisco would likely have to ship off someone on their big league roster. With one of the weaker farm systems in baseball and top prospect Bryce Eldridge rightfully seen as untouchable, there's not much wiggle room to deal a minor leaguer.
San Francisco Giants Avoid Arbitration Agreeing to Deals With Stellar Bullpen Duo
The arbitration deadline wasn't as busy for the San Francisco Giants as some teams around the league as they had only four players who were eligible this offseason. It took longer to agree to deals with the other players, but the Giants will not be going to arbitration hearings with any of their players as they all agreed to deals ahead of the deadline on Jan. 9, 2025.
San Francisco Giants Signing Outfielder To Huge Contract Named 'Worst Recent Mistake'
The San Francisco Giants have finally started to open up their check books again, getting over the hump since their last big failed free agent signing. ESPN's David Schoenfield recently looked through each MLB team's immediate history to find their worst mistake since 2020. One Giants contract stood out above the rest. It wasn't long ago, free agency ahead of the 2023 season, that San Francisco gave outfielder Mitch Haniger a three-year, $43.5 million deal.
San Francisco Giants' Next Star Prospect Shows Substantial MLB-Ready Skills
It has been a busy first offseason for Buster Posey as he's trying to improve a San Francisco Giants team that has been mediocre the last few years. The new president of baseball operations has been working hard in his first winter on the job for the Giants. Coming into the offseason, San Francisco knew that there was a sizable gap between it and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. It was never realistic for them to be able to truly believe that they could compete with the Dodgers in 2025, but the goal was to certainly improve and get closer.
San Francisco Giants Need To Keep Making Additions To Continue Power Ranking Climb
The San Francisco Giants entered the offseason facing an uphill battle when it came to competing with their rivals in the NL West. There is a considerable gap that exists between them, the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks. San Francisco is heading in the right direction, as they rose from the No. 21 spot in the previous rankings.
Rockies finalize 1-year deal with infielder Thairo Estrada
Thairo Estrada and the Colorado Rockies finalized a one-year contract Thursday, a deal that includes a mutual option for 2026. Estrada has a .251 average with 48 homers, 195 RBIs and 52 stolen bases in 469 games over parts of six seasons with the New York Yankees (2019-20) and the Giants (2021-24). In November, Colorado agreed on a guaranteed $3.25 million, one-year deal with Kyle Farmer in the wake of the organization's decision to not offer a contract to Brendan Rodgers.
San Francisco Giants' Pivot to Free-Agent All-Star Slugger Makes Sense
It has been a fairly busy offseason for the San Francisco Giants, who are trying to break out of years of mediocrity. The Giants have been struggling for quite some time despite an outlier of a year in 2021. San Francisco made the decision to hire Buster Posey to be their new president of baseball operations with the hopes he can turn things around. In addition to signing the talented shortstop, San Francisco was also very much involved in trying to pursue Corbin Burnes in free agency.
New York Yankees Done With Big Spending in Busy Offseason
The New York Yankees are done signing high-priced free agents, a source with knowledge of their situation said. That leaves coveted players such as Pete Alonso and Alex Bregman among the 164 free agents still on the market with only 37 days until pitchers and catchers report to spring training camps in Florida and Arizona …
