Madison Bumgarner's Admission On Giants 2014 World Series Heroics
San Francisco Giants fans most likely have fond memories of 2014 where they won their last World Series title which is approaching the 10-year anniversary. A major part of that team was Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner who spoke with Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area about memories of that playoff run and how he was feeling during that time. As said before, tons of people from that Giants championship team will celebrate Saturday at Oracle Park for the decade anniversary which prompted Bumgarner to remember his conversations with manager Bruce Bochy. Bumgarner had the mindset that he wanted to contribute by any means necessary in the eventual final two games of the series despite throwing 117 pitches in Game 5, which ended up being a shutout.
Conforto scores on Canha's sacrifice fly in 9th and Giants edge Tigers 3-2
Michael Conforto scored on Mark Canha's sacrifice fly with one out in the ninth inning, lifting the San Francisco Giants to a 3-2 win over the Detroit Tigers on Friday night after being no-hit through six innings. Canha lifted a 2-2 fastball from Shelby Miller to deep left to score Conforto, who had walked. Heliot Ramos led off the inning with a grounder up the middle that Tigers second baseman Colt Keith misplayed for an error.

Giants, Tigers search for ninth-inning answers
Two teams with game-finishing issues continue their interleague series Saturday afternoon when the Detroit Tigers get a rematch with the San Francisco Giants. Having sent former All-Star closer Camilo Doval to the minor leagues earlier in the day, the Giants didn't need a closer to put the bow on a 3-2, walk-off win over the Tigers in the opener of a three-game series on Friday. The loss was the second straight endured in the bottom of the ninth by the Tigers, who saw Tyler Holton and Will Vest blow a lead in Seattle on Thursday before Jason Foley and Shelby Miller were unable to retain a lead the next night in San Francisco.
Bob Melvin names SF Giants' new closer after Camilo Doval's demotion
Facing these circumstances Friday night, the score even at 2 in their first game against the Tigers, Giants manager Bob Melvin didn't have a closer to call on. After Camilo Doval was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento before the game, Melvin tapped Tyler Rogers for the highest-leverage situation of their eventual 3-2 win. The submarining set-up man recorded a 1-2-3 inning, but afterward the manager named a different reliever when asked about ninth-inning duties going forward. Ryan Walker will handle ninth-inning duties in Doval's absence, Melvin said, but the crossfiring right-hander was unavailable after pitching in their previous two games.

The Tigers (55-62) lost to the Seattle Mariners in the ninth inning on Thursday night and were hoping to shake off the frustration in a new series against the Giants (60-58). It wasn't to be. No-hit for 6 innings, SF Giants rally late for improbable win over Tigers
On a night where Robbie Ray didn't have his best fastball or his best command, when their touch-and-go offense was held hitless for more than half the game, the Giants still managed to pull out the unlikeliest of victories Friday to begin a crucial home stand. Ray turned in his longest outing yet since returning from Tommy John surgery and was still out of the game by the time his run support arrived, but the Giants' bats woke up just in time to walk off the Tigers, 3-2, by way of Mark Canha's ninth-inning sacrifice fly and move two games over .500 for the first time since the end of May.
Giants' Camilo Doval sent to Triple-A day after blown save
The right-hander has struggled to find the form that made him an All-Star in 2023 in 46 appearances this season for San Francisco, and he has a career-worst 4.70 ERA. "When you're a guy like him, you don't expect to hear that, so he's processing it right now and hopefully he takes it the right way and gets back here and does the role that he's done in the past very successfully," Giants manager Bob Melvin said. "It'll be the guy we feel like has the best opportunity to do it without throwing everything else into disarray," Melvin said. Doval (4-1, 22 saves) has had an uncharacteristically mistake-laden year.
Here's who is slated to appear at SF Giants' 2014 World Series reunion, including one elusive guest
There is perhaps no player more synonymous with the last of the Giants' third World Series title of their dynastic era than Madison Bumgarner, the hard-nosed horse of the pitching staff who started six games that October, tossed two complete game shutouts and came out of the bullpen to record the final three outs of Game 7. The 10-year reunion set to take place Saturday at Oracle Park would have felt empty without him. But the elusive Bumgarner will be there, the Giants announced Friday, along with a guest list of 36 other players, coaches and front office members from the 2014 championship team. Among the notable absences are Bruce Bochy and Pablo Sandoval, who are still active in the game,

San Francisco Giants Heliot Ramos Dishes on Unique Approach at Plate
After struggling in his first two stints as a major leaguer, San Francisco Giants outfielder Heliot Ramos has put things together in 2024. Carrying that positive momentum over into the second half proved to be difficult for Ramos at the start. Unfortunately for the Giants, another one of their key young players, catcher Patrick Bailey, was also going through a slump. Looking for their All-Star outfielder to reset, Bob Melvin sat him down for two games.
